Library Director

Greetings Readers, and Happy Fall!

It may be a heatwave outside, but I’m ready to start thinking about crisp autumn days! After wrapping up our most successful summer reading program in years, our library staff has been busy putting the finishing touches on our fall program lineup. We’re bringing back some beloved favorites—and adding a few exciting new series to the mix.

If you’ve visited the library lately, you may have noticed some changes. Our Library of Things collection has grown so much that we moved it to a bigger space—now you’ll find it on the shelves near the fireplace. Our Staff Picks section has also relocated to the New Book area, which is a great place to start if you’re hunting for your next read.

We’ve also added a few fun, low-key activities to enjoy while you’re here. Adults can work on our community jigsaw puzzle near the chess table, or pick up a variety of printed word and number puzzles near the newspapers. I love that there’s always something new to discover at the BPL!

I’m especially excited to announce Live from Library Lane, a brand-new program series made possible by generous grant funding from the Burlington Community Fund and the Main Street Community Foundation, awarded to the Friends of the Library this summer. These funds will bring exciting live entertainment to our community—starting with The Headless Horseman Rides Again, an engaging evening with award-winning actor J.T. Turner, who will bring American author Washington Irving to life!
